About
ENV defines Environmental Design as design for the built environment. Our curriculum encompasses design for the context of our daily lives: the neighborhood, the street, the building, the inside space, the chair and the toy.
ENV teaches a design consciousness that demands a high level of creativity and critical analysis towards design problems in order to transcend the limitations of common design practice. The department teaches the interconnectedness of design and society, and how good design not only addresses the immediate context of a problem but also considers sustainability across the wider environmental sphere.
This website presents an introduction to the breadth and depth of our design work at ENV, but it is no substitute for the vibrant and dynamic experience of studying at the Department. We warmly invite all interested parties – whether students, citizens, or art, design and Architecture professionals - from Baltimore and beyond, to enquire about and engage in our exciting program in design practice.
